Henry Avocado has issued a voluntary recall of whole avocados that were sold in bulk at retail stores in California, Arizona, Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and New Hampshire over concerns they may be contaminated with Listeria.
The recalled avocados have a "Bravocado" sticker on them. The recall also includes avocados which are labeled as “organic” and include “California” on the sticker. Consumers are being advised to discard the avocados or bring that back to the store for a full refund.
There are no reports that anybody has gotten sick from eating the avocados.
Henry Avocado says that the recall does not impact any that have been imported from Mexico.
Listeria can cause a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea in healthy adults. It can also result in a serious and potentially fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems.
