Runaway Pit Bull Jumps Into Police Car, Finds Beef Jerky, Refuses To Leave

A Texas police officer's attempt to corral a runaway pit bull didn't go as planned on Saturday (June 15) night. The officer was responding to a report of an aggressive dog in Kilgore and found the animal running through the streets.

He decided to lure the animal into the back of his patrol car, hoping to trap it until he could locate the dog's owners. The officer also left the driver's side door opened, and the dog decided to jump in the front seat.

When the officer tried to get the dog out of his car, it bared its teeth and became aggressive, so he slammed the door shut.

The dispatcher heard strange noises on the radio as the dog began chowing down on the officer's beef jerky. He took a photo of the pit bull and sent it to the police chief, who joked that the dog didn't look happy.

"He ain't, and neither am I," the officer replied back.

They sent an animal control officer, and the dog was taken into custody without incident. It is unclear if they were able to locate the dog's owners.

The Kilgore Police Department shared the photo on Facebook and joked that "the only injury sustained in this incident was to the Officers pride. LOL"
